Details:

PETER GIFFT PENNSYLVANIA CURLY MAPLE & CHERRY TALL CASE CLOCK, C. 1800-1815, H 93 1/2", W 17", D 10 1/2"

With eight day works, metal dial with seconds hand and day of week indicator. Raised on four ogee feet. Revolving moon phase dial. Two iron weights, a brass pendulum, and keys to case. From the Estate of Margaret Barton, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Condition:
On the case base, at the front panel, there is an approx. 7" age crack in the wood. At the side panel of the base there is an approx. 6" age crack in the panel. The clock was last serviced by Northville Watch and Clock on Feb. 18, 2009. The hands are nicely done and look to be of the time period for the clock. Whether they are original to the clock, I do not know. The feet are bracket feet with a slight splay, which is indicitive of the period. They match the wood of the case. In my opinion they are original. At the bonnet, the scroll trim and the finials are a slightly darker color than the rest of the case. Peter Gifft clocks were known for keeping excellent time. This is a beautiful antique clock from a very nice estate.
