MARC-LOUIS SOLON, MINTON PATE SUR PATE VESSEL, LATE 19TH C., H 5 3/4", W 5 1/2", "JE MEURS OÚ JE M'ATTACHE"

An antique porcelain vessel decorated by Marc-Louis Solon, a renowned French porcelain artist. This piece depicts a cherub on ivy branches; the artist utilizing his famous pâte-sur-pâte technique. The perimeter of the vessel reads "JE-MEURS-OÚ JE M'ATTACHE" which translates to a famous French phrase: "I die where I cling." The green piece is ornately embellished with stylized gilt borders and stands on four legs. The piece is signed "L. Solon" to the bottom. The piece is branded "Mintons" and numerically marked to its underside.
